George Humphrey Tichenor Antiseptic Company

George H. Tichenor  invented  Dr. Tichenor antiseptic in Amite, County, Mississippi. George was born in 1837 and died in 1923.  He enlisted in the Confederate Army with the Williamson Company Dare Devils commanded by Capt. William Ewing.  The first official documentation of Tichenor with a license to practice medicine can be found.

Luther Calvin Taplin a Native of Amite County, Mississippi

Luther Calvin Taplin

Luther was born in  1909  in Amite County and, although he is only twenty-three year old (1938), is principal of Lawrence County Training School for Negroes. His early education was received at Liberty, and late he went to to Tougaloo, Mississippi.  Hi is especially gifted is singing spiritual and folk songs and had traveled over the state giving progress of his music to both while and colored He is a valued member of the color race.

Hemora Plantation in Pike County, Mississippi

Hemora Plantation is located in Holmesville in Pike County, Mississippi. Holmesville is an Unincorporated community in Pike County. This note was located inside the book entitled, " Source Material for Mississippi History, Pike County, Vol, 57, Part 2. The note is giving directions to the location of the plantation. 5 miles South of East from Summitt, 3 miles from McComb.

I visited the library in Magnolia, Mississippi the first thing that caught my eye was the display of Indian Arrowheads. Some of them were found in the yards of the local people. It appeared that some where purchased from others states according to the tags.
